UPDATE:
February 8, 2010
Emma Eau Fraiche by Laura Ashley Perfume Recreation Project.
Hello everyone,
today I am going to start with the not so good news. We recently had one of our
original EMMA perfume participants withdrawal her perfume from our project.
Considering that we held the perfume for since 2008 and weren't able to bring
the project to completion by now, I completely understand her desire to have her
perfume back.
That said, the good news is that everyone else is still desirous for us to
continue the project, but I can not say enough that we seriously need higher
levels of participation, so please email your
friends and let them know about the project and tell them that we now
need about 4 more ounces of the perfume. Be sure to ask them to email us at
martecci@cox.net and ask to be put on our
contact list and let us know if they have any of the perfume they would like to
pledge toward the project.
For those who would like to try a perfume similar to EMMA scent, I would
recommend CHARLOTTE, And you can find out more about it below.
Thanks,
Lance Snider

UPDATE:
October 18, 2009
Emma Eau Fraiche by Laura Ashley Perfume Recreation Project
We have had several contacts informing us that they saw EMMA for sale. However,
we have had any other contributors to the EMMA by Laura Ashley project. This
still means we still need about 3 oz of the original perfume before we can
initiate the next phase of the project. That said, I am quite concerned
that if we can't get what we need to enter into the next phase of the project
before year's end that one or more of the current contributors will back out.
So, if you truly are an EMMA fan, and you have some of the original perfume and
it still smells great, then I would encourage you to contact me at
martecci@cox.net and tell me that you want
to participate in the project. If you don't have any of the EMMA perfume
just ask to be placed on our contact list.
For those that have inquired for great alternatives for EMMA, I will be updating
this page to offer samples of HANNA, AND JENNA soon. I am
hopeful that I can get that done by the end of October 2009. That said, you still can
order CHARLOTTE here. I also have a sample size and several concentration
options for the 1 ounce bottle below.
CHARLOTTE PERFUME
FOR WOMEN BY MARTECCI
UPDATE:
August 10, 2009
Emma Eau Fraiche by Laura Ashley Perfume Recreation Project; edit 10/18/2009
please help us
help you.
a portion of the
sale of CHARLOTTE by martecci's goes toward maintenance of
this site & financing our EMMA by Laura Ashley Perfume Recreation
PROJECT!!!
*For
those who are wanting to reorder larger sizes etc, other sizes and options for
CHARLOTTE can be purchased under the update of July 10, 2009 (down
below).
For those that have
inquired, HANNA and JENNA will also be available soon. Right now I am tweaking
them and testing them out, but I am hoping they will be available next year, if
not earlier). For those who haven't heard, like CHARLOTTE, these 2 perfumes
are being designed using
the commonly reported generic note information as reported to be in EMMA by
Laura Ashley. I think of them as sisters to EMMA; or as if EMMA were their
mother.
Part of the reason I
created these scents is because of the difficulty we're having in procuring more
of the EMMA perfume. We need to have enough of the good smelling EMMA perfume to use
several pieces of equipment to analyze it (more info on this under updates of
January 2008). Anyhow, I hope I will be able to update this page with
samples offering of HANNA and JENNA sometime relatively soon.
For those who enjoyed
wearing Laura Ashley No. 2, I feel l may attempt to create similarly themed
perfumes and use what little I have o the original to compare it to. Of course
if you have several big bottles of the Original, I ay just be able to use our GS
machine etc to recreate it, but it doesn't feel that that will be an option due
to the rarity of the scent. Anyhow, if you are interested in trying samples when
they become available, and possibly proposing some names, please email me at
martecci@cox.net
For the few of you
who have asked about Dilys, we don't have any of the original perfume, but if
you do have some, please contact me.
In closing, I guess I
will just say that if you have any amount of the EMMA perfume that still smells
good, or any Laura Ashley No. 2, or Dilys, or even if you just want to be put on
our contact list about these projects, just email me at marteci@cox.net.
Oh yeah don't forget
to bookmark this site, and to possibly email our link to your friends.
Anything else you can do to help with this project would also of course be much
appreciated by perfume fans everywhere.
Thanks,
Lance Snider

UPDATE: July 24, 2009
Emma Eau Fraiche by Laura Ashley Perfume Recreation Project
Notes:
Edited August 10, 2009: acknowledgements, and minor details.
The short of the
matter is that we have about 5 ounces of EMMA Eau Fraiche that are in great
smelling condition. That means we still need a minimum of 3 more ounces of EMMA
to meet our goal so we can proceed to the next phase of our project. If
you have some EMMA and are interested in participating in our project, email me
at martecci@cox.net.
We have already
recreated two other of the Laura Ashley perfumes and you can navigate to them
from our home page.
For those who are
tracking the development of this project, this update relates to the EMMA
perfume we mentioned we received from "Angela from KY," in the update on
July 11, 2009. the perfume she sent came in a clear glass splash bottle with and
"E" on the cap. It had slightly less than an ounce of the EMMA Eau Fraiche
in it. After corresponding with her, it was learned that she was unsure of its
condition, but knew it was her mother's favorite perfume. She found the
bottle as she was cleaning out a storage area. I am not sure if this was a
storage bin or someplace in her house or garage. Anyhow, we reached an
agreement and she sent the perfume to us and we sent her a sample of my
CHARLOTTE perfume (mentioned in the update made below on July 10, 2009).
After the perfume
arrived, I arranged for two ladies who knew the scent to participate in testing
it. Based upon feedback we received by "Jennifer S. from NJ"
and "Sara M., PA, USA,". we have determined that the scent did not meet our
expectations.
These are some of
their remarks on this specimen:
Jennifer S. from
NJ said (edited for brevity by permission),
"...You do not know
how thrilled I was to discover that you had an EMMA perfume project in
effect. And I really appreciate this opportunity you have given me to
participate in this project.
... in relation to
the perfume you sent me to test, I definitely can say that it smells like it has
"gone bad" for the most part. I am sorry, but that is my honest opinion.
I bought a bottle that smelled like this sample off of eBay several years ago so
I appreciate the fact that you let me know you questioned the scent's integrity
and wanted to give me an opportunity to test it out.
...[W]hen I smelled
it at first, it reminded me of nail polish. I am not of course any kind of
expert, but I think there is a problem with the top and middle notes (or
something like that) with the sample you sent me. I think you understand what I
mean.
Anyhow, recognizing
me is really nor important but if you decide to do so you can recognize me, if
you want, as Jennifer S. from NJ.
...Lastly, I wish to
give you some good news!!!. I simply LOVED the sample of CHARLOTTE and I will be
ordering a bottle of it soon. It' simply closet thing to EMMA that I have ever
tried and I think you have a sure winner on your hands. I am simply amazed about
how much it reminds me of EMMA!!! As I am picky about what I wear, I would
almost say I like it as much as EMMA and maybe even more!!! Anyhow, let me
know when you have a CHARLOTTE lotion available and if you have plans to create
a dry oil pray for it. I'll be one of your first customer for sure.
Sara M., PA, USA
said,
"Sorry I did not get
back to you sooner. The sample arrived the day before I was to leave for a
ten-day vacation and I did not have a chance to try it then.
I have since done so and I believe there is something to work with. My initial
reaction on applying the sample was negative: an overwhelming sharp, sour
alcohol scent. This may have been because of the age of the sample. However,
after the "dry down," as you put it, the Emma fragrance I remember emerged. It
was more intense and concentrated than I remember, again perhaps because of age.
I recall Emma as being lighter and fresher; I always used it as a summer
fragrance. That true Emma essence faded somewhat rapidly as I wore it. After
about an hour it did not have the same character.
Hope this helps your work. Thanks again."
Well, there you have
it. We still need more of the EMMA perfume...that still smells good!!!.
As to recreating
Laura Ashley No. 2 or Dilys, you should we have not had many requests for them
and so we are not sure we will make projects for them at this time. But even
though we are focusing on the EMMA perfume project, feel free to request
participation in projects for these other two scents by emailing me at
martecci@cox.net .
Oh yeah, "Angela from
KY," who sent in her used bottle of EMMA requested that I exchange it out for a
bottle of CHARLOTTE and stated that she would be interested in sample of HANNA
and JENNA once they are released. So, what can I say? That makes me feel good!
Sincerely,
Lance Snider

UPDATE: July 11, 2009
We received another
(used) bottle of EMMA last week, but it is being evaluated by some third party
participants and I am awaiting feedback about its fitness for use in the
project.
UPDATE: July 10, 2009
As I have
recently made an update concerning our EMMA PERFUME PROJECT (down below), I am
not going to do so now because there is nothing really new to add. I am
just going to talk about what many ladies seem to enjoy as a really good perfume
alternative to EMMA, namely CHARLOTTE, a perfume that I have tweaked, based on
feedback, several times now. .
That said, it
has been a task to try to develop a perfume that would compete with EMMA by
Laura Ashley, so I appreciate everyone who has emailed me and provided feedback
and comments about it. As you can imagine, developing a scent to have a
broad range of acceptance is truly a "big chore" so your comments, suggestions,
and, of course, requests for more of CHARLOTTE have been such a joy.
So, now due to the
various requests and recommendations for other concentrations and options of
this tweaked scent, I am now offering sample packs and 1 ounce bottles
(HURRAY!!!).
As for the2 sample packs,
they includes three different concentration options and the price set up is BUY
TWO SAMPLES GET ONE FREE. The
only basic similarity is that both sample packs have the CHARLOTTE EAU FRAICHE.
(If you need to understand the difference between the different concentrations
mentioned below, please review our
Fragrance Strengths page).
The first sample pack
contains (1) CHARLOTTE EAU FRAICHE, (1) CHARLOTTE EAU DE COLOGNE,
and (1) CHARLOTTE EAU DE TOILETTE. Each of the mini atomizers
of these samples are 2 ml.
The second sample
pack contains (1) CHARLOTTE EAU FRAICHE, (1) CHARLOTTE COLOGNE
and (1) CHARLOTTE EAU DE PARFUM. (If shipping will be to a
non-USA address, please see our ABOUT
MARTECCI'S page under international orders. We do not
deliver to Germany, Italy, or France, so, if that is you, try to make
arrangements with a friend or family member in a surrounding country, in
the UK, Sweden, Poland, etc, to receive the package. I would need their address.
Email me at martecci@cox.net if you have
any questions).
CHARLOTTE PERFUME

tweaks doing a market
test. This time around, I plan on utilizing the suggestions I received about
CHARLOTTE and release sample packs this time around. This is a better method to
help you chose a ideal concentration for you. It is sometimes simply
amazing to hear how a difference in the concentration of a scent determines
one's opinion as to its likableness.
(Please remember that
the sale of these samples also help us finances various aspects of the LAURA
ASHLEY PERFUME PROJECT).
And finally, as to
our project for EMMA by Laura Ashley, it looks like the June 30th post below
reflects the current state of affairs for our project.
Well, If you have any
questions, or suggestions, please feel free to let me know at
martecci@cox.net. I'd love to help
out in any way I can.

Lance Snider

UPDATE: June 30, 2009
THE GOOD NEWS: ‘EMMA
FROM AUSTRALIA" (as she desired to be identified) has contributed approximately
ONE MORE OUNCE of the EMMA Eau Fraiche to the project. That means that
we now need
just about three more ounces
of the EMMA Eau Fraiche before we can begin the prepay and our
recreation work.
THE NOT SO GOOD
NEWS: If we don't get what we need to start the pre-pay aspect of the
project by early on next year, I will have to return some of the perfume that
was contributed to go toward the project, so please ladies, help get the word
out about his project and do what you can to make it a reality because
since Bernard (Laura's husband) died earlier this year,
this may be your one and only opportunity to have someone (us) do something
about it.
THE SORT OF BAD
NEWS: One of our contacts decided to sell one of their one ounce
bottles on the grandfather of auctions sites. Considering the tough economic
times, I completely understand. Anyhow, this contact may still have some
more bottles of the original, but has not got back with me. The other
contact I alluded to down below hasn't returned my emails, but I was under the
impression she was in the process of moving, so she may contact me once she
settles in.
Please review the last several updates below.

UPDATE: May 31, 2009
Before I get into the
EMMA Perfume Project, I would lie to say that I appreciate the feedback that I
have received on the alternative EMMA perfume recommendation mentioned in
my previous update. Based on the what feedback I have received, I feel that I
will be considering some more recommendations, while also keeping the one
previously mentioned (CHARLOTTE) available for those who really liked it.
Anyhow, it has been a
while since I have made an update on the EMMA EAU FRAICHE project, so here it
is.
We have had 2 or 3 other
EMMA fans contact us within roughly the last two months , and indicated that
they still had some EMMA perfume that still smelled good. They indicated
an interest in the project, but it seems that they are unwilling to
participate/negotiate/contribute to the EMMA perfume project. I made two
follow up attempts with them and did not get any decisive response. So, I
will try to contact them via email in June 2009 and hopefully they will respond
and some kind of arrangement can be made.
For those that are
interested, I am willing to trade a fair
amount of any of my own original perfumes, or a fair amount of my premium grade
perfume recreations that I call Martecci Version perfumes, like
our Laura Ashley No. 1 perfume, in some kind
of negotiable exchange.
Further, as this
project is taking longer than anticipated to reach completion, I am concerned
that there is not enough true demand for the perfume and am considering a
termination date should the demand and interest not increase. I realize it
has been off the market for a good long while so most people, I presume, have
given up looking for it. So, what this means in practical terms is that every
EMMA perfume fan who reads this section should to contact me
(martecci@cox.net) and request me to put them on our contact list for the
project. Additionally, if you are an EMMA by Laura Ashley perfume fan,
and you actually have some of the original perfume and it still smells
great, please let me know and let me know if you wish to exchange it out
for any of my other products, or for more EMMA should we successfully recreate
it, like I have done for over a 1,000
different perfumes/colognes so far.
And finally, there is
something else you can also do the help this project. Please email all
your friends and tell them about it. You can also make mention of this project
on your personal web space, or in your outgoing email signature lines, or on
Facebook, or Youtube, and so on. If the EMMA PERFUME IS IMPORTANT
TO YOU, then DO NOT ASSUME someone else will do these things, as most
people will not.
Well, once again,
thank you for your interest and for helping to get the word out.
Smiles,
Lance Snider

UPDATE: NOVEMBER 19, 2008 (minor update December 2008)
Two things today by way of updates and recommendations.
First, I really appreciate the feedback and response we have been receiving
from EMMA perfume fans on our CHARLOTTE MARTECCI PERFUME, so to cut down on the
number of emails we've been receiving (due primarily to our previous update) and
to streamline the ordering process a bit more, I would encourage Emma perfume fans to pamper themselves
with CHARLOTTE MARTECCI, which is offered in the cart down below. Both the EDT and EDP
(lasts longer) concentrations are being offered. The scent has some wonderful natural notes
to it, and I do think you will love it. (If shipping will be to a
non-USA address, please see our ABOUT
MARTECCI'S page under international orders. Qualifying international
orders will be sent a separate invoice to cover the costs of s&h. We do not
deliver to Germany, Italy, or France, so, if that is you, try to make
arrangements with a friend or family member in a surrounding country, in
the UK, Sweden, Poland, etc, to receive the package. I would need their address.
email me at martecci@cox.net if you have
any questions).
(By the way, a portion of the sale of
CHARLOTTE (HANNA and JENNA will also be available soon, along with some
other recommendations) goes toward
helping us finance the EMMA PROJECT!!!)
Secondly, the only thing that has
changed related to the EMMA project since my last update is that I have had one
lady that indicated that she would be willing to part with a part of her perfume
for the project, but didn't want to contribute all of it. I have followed
up with her, but she has yet to contact me again, and so she may have decided
against it. I know you really can't blame her and neither do I. This perfume is
really a personal scent for many ladies and this scenario seems to happen quite
a bit with this project. Just pray that someone who is serious about the project
will contact me and will be willing to contribute to the project and become a
part of perfume history. We really need to have as much of the original
Emma perfume as we can to do the best work, especially since most of what is out
there is the Eau Fraiche, so please help get the word out.
Smiles,
Lance Snider

UPDATE: SEPTEMBER 30, 2008
Hello Laura Ashley perfume fan. Just so you know we are still needing several more ounces of the original Emma by Laura Ashley
perfume in order for us to continue with the project. We are also needing
more willing pre-payers for when that aspect of the project goes into motion.
Please help us get the word out about our projects; anything you could do will
work to speed things up.
In lieu of us recreating the EMMA by Laura Ashley scent, I would now strongly
urge you to try my new perfume called CHARLOTTE MARTECCI. Right now, it is
by request only. Just email me at
martecci@cox.net and let me know you would like a sample. (2 ml EDT
CHARLOTTE samples are $14.95 plus s&h)..
If you have any information on this perfume or any others, please let us
know.
Thanks again for checking in on the latest news and updates on the Laura
Ashley Scent Projects.

UPDATE:
July 16, 2008
We recently opened our ebay store and put up several listings for several
bargain priced Laura Ashley No. 1 eau de parfum (MV) to try and draw in more
Laura Ashley perfume fans and generate more notice to our Emma perfume project.
We expected a greater interest than what we have initially received on both, but
it may take a while before we see the results we really need.
We also put up a separate listing to draw attention to the EMMA
project.
As to the EMMA perfume project, since all the specimens we have are of the
eau fraiche, we feel we need to have about 2 more ounces of the original before
I feel we can proceed further with the project, which mainly consists of
obtaining a sufficient number of pre-payers.
So, if you have some EMMA, let
me know. And if you know someone who does, please let them know about us
and the project. Feel free to send them our email address:
martecci@cox.net.
For those who have inquired about our
Laura Ashley No. 3 Limited Edition (MV), it seems that Emma lovers love the
No. 3 eau fraiche or eau de cologne more than they like the eau de parfum, which
they say is too strong or too loud. Of those that love
Laura Ashley No. 1 (MV), just over 50% of
them who also have tried the LAN3 (MV) samples we sent with their orders, also
love it. The samples were either eau de toilette or eau de parfum.
Best,
Lance Snider
